Tu-Shun
Ok so I’m not going to lie at all I didn’t understand what the heck this guy was trying to say. I would like to say that because of this reading I have a better and deeper understanding on life but I cant say that I do at all. The writing left my lost and confused in its abstractness. I sought so hard to find a meaning in what Tu-Shun says but I couldn’t only towards the end did I somewhat have a theory on what he was trying to say. Some times I tend to get frustrated with Religions and or Philosophies......I just want them to say what they mean and not leave it up to the 6 billion people in the world to decide. Anyways I did thought he might be trying to relate the jewels to people and how we all reflect on each other and what we do effects everyone around us. Or maybe the jewels could have been God. At any rate this writing frustrated me. The metaphors were beyond my understanding. I did like the question and answer style, although it would have been nice if my mind could have comprehended the questions and logically agreed with the answers.

Im glad im not the only one who didnt understand. At least you were brave enough to blog on it i got nothing haha. The jewel metaphors were way beyond me. Maybe we will discuss this in class i dont know???
ReplyDeleteI found this reading really interesting, but I found it confusing too. I read it a few times and when something new made sense, something else did not. I sort of took the whole idea of the jewels as a ripple effect. It seemed to suggest that one's actions have negative or positive consequences for not only oneself, but for others as well. I find the concept that we have a deep connection with one another and have the ability to have a huge impact on everyone around us fascinating. A lot of people seem to believe that their actions only effect themselves and don’t realize that how we impact those directly around us and those further in the distance. I really liked the part in this reading about how liberation of oneself can lead to liberation within others. That’s where I really got the ripple effect feel from this. A lot of this was confusing, but I feel like the main idea behind it was that we’re all connected and effect one another even when we’re not aware of it. Perhaps that’s an added reason why we should stop and think before we act…you never know who may be impacted by the choices we make.
